All Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare Association yesterday i.e. 27th of March, 2024 protested against the operation of E-buses on RS Pura and Aknoor sector long routes of the Jammu Region. All the transporters gathered at Ware House Jammu showed their agitation against the Transport Department, the government, and other authorities of Jammu and Kashmir. They said that this was a breach of trust with them.
They also said that this is a violation of an agreement agreed by the authorities and the government with them not plying E-Buses on the long routes of the Jammu region. Protested said that the Transport Association and Department broke their trust.
However, there are 70 E-buses already operating in the Jammu district. Transporters said they are not against the government policy. They said we discussed earlier in the meetings with the Transport Association and Department that the E-buses will not be plying on the long routes with the discussion with the transporters and the transport association agreed with us.
But on the 26th of March, 2024, E-buses were plying on RS Pura and Aknoor sector long routes of the Jammu Region without a discussion with the transporters why they started protesting against the Transport Association and Department on 27th of March, 2024.
One of the transporters said that plying E-buses on long routes will lead to their risk of livelihood and how they will fulfill the needs of their families.
If their demands are not fulfilled their protest will continue with more aggression and they warned the transport association and department today our protest is peaceful but not next.
Moreover, this leads to inconvenience for the people of the Jammu region due to the unplanned plying of the E-buses.
